I'm pretty sure its a software issue. It was happening to my wifes curve and tech support had to do a security wipe. now everythings fine.

Used to happen on mine. Do you happen to have your sim card flipped?

I started getting this error (or something like it) after installing the AIM Beta from blackberry beta zone. Just uninstalled and so far no error.

I'm not sure what's causing mine. How can you tell if something is wrong in the error log?

I was having the same issue when I was running .732... Also could not get my actual phone app to work, couldn't get incoming or send outgoing calls... Wiped it and put .699 on it and haven't had a single problem...

im debating on going down to .699 but since removing the sim card the error message doesn't come on anymore after 15 battery pulls i did last night trying to replicate the error message.

I noticed mine started getting this error,
early Tuesday morning (ie after Monday midnight).
I'm running stock 328 OS, have not added any
    apps for many, many months.

I had to reboot a few times and it came up and
clicking the OK, allowed me to proceed.

That was until today, I had to do a battery
pull, and when I did, I got the same error,
then it was froze. Clicking the OK, or waiting would
result in the white screen with the "app error 523".

It will do this constantly. I noticed watching closely
that the error box seemed to come up before it did
    the "security software check".

    Very odd indeed.

Being stock firmware and all. Does not make any sense.

I'm thinking that's yet another .732 bug. WTG Verizon on releasing that one. Big Red FTL.

And don't flame me, I know they all come from RIM.
