Hey Guys.....My bold is messed up. My key board is weird and when i push certain keys hl pops up. Also I can move the ball but when I click on it it doesn't work. I am going to call ATT to get a warrenty exchange bc its under a year. I paid for a separate insurance but my phone place is saying I have to use the 1 year standard att warrenty.

Do I need to change my OS back to .167 before I send my phone back to ATT? Will this mess up my warrenty? Thanks!!!!

Chances are you don't need to but you still should. Do not give
the carrier a reason to void your warranty.

This. I would change it back to the AT&T official release just to play it safe.

I've read several post that say that you don't need to.
    I agree with AG though

I would also. I have the kind of luck that mine would arrive with 100 others. A service tech would receive them and approve 99 without question before going on break. The next guy would get mine and deny because the OS was altered.

As long as you can reinstall the authorized OS, why not do it?

I agree. My friend, a manager at an AT&T store, told me it isn't against warranty. In fact, he has both a Bold and a Curve operating on OS's that aren't AT&T official. However, better safe than sorry.

Upgrading the OS doesn't void the warranty.

this is a bit out of context but I'm not creating a new tread just for this question. Those of you who have exchanged your at&t bolds, have been able to get the new phone before you ship the old one or has anyone been required to send their old one first?

They give u 10 days after receipt of new phonw to send back the old one.

I just did an exchange of 2 of the 3 I bought in Nov because the trackball stopped working.

I wiped the old phones and restored orig. OS to them before returning them.

My new phones work better than the orig one did when I first got it.
