    Hi,

I've just bought an old Bold 9000 (I wanted a phone that would do email, a to-do list, a calendar, and simple notes but nothing else, as otherwise I find smartphones too distracting).

But I can't work out how to download any apps, as the appstore seems no longer compatible. Any ideas?

What version appstore? I use 4.0.0.65 with no problems but you may have to update BBID in order to pay for your items.

Try to delete/reinstall appstore. Hope this helps.

I still have one that is a back up to my Q10 and iphone 5s. I still pull it out time to time just to mess with. The keyboard is a little better than the Q10 in my opinion (I like the curved keyboard vs straight).

The bold 9000 is my second favorite blackberry behind the 87xx series.

I love my old 9000, (have had her for 6 years) and aside from having to change the trackball occasionally she works great BUT I cannot use any apps as they are all too big, I even had to delete FB and new version of BBM works badly
How do you shrink the OS and get older versions of apps etc, I am not very tech savvy but sure would love to get more out of my old girl as I have at least 50 fabulous cases for her...LOL!!!
I also have an iphone 4 and use both on different carriers, any help would be appreciated, thanks!!!
Hey there, you can try downloading BB Boss or BBH Tool to shrink your OS. Just beware of the .COD files that you're removing

BBBold9000 has been my "workhorse" and has always been clipped to my belt since 2009 and used as a business communication/information tool . Apart from replacing the trackball once, it has never missed a beat on any occasion and never let me down. I've no time for social media and not interested in fun apps (have a laptop and desktop for the more serious stuff) but as an extremely handy "on-the-spot" business tool, which is a well designed phone, txt, emaiI, browser, calendar, camera and document reader, etc, I frankly can't fault it and see no need to replace until they change frequencies again. (The only other backup phone I have is a Nokia E63, also a solid design which Nokia has used as their basic model for some of their newer versions).

In fact, bought my wife a brand new BBBold9000 ex Ebay last week for $50. Took a chance. Wasn't sure what I would be getting, but was very pleasantly surprised. Yes! Brand Spanking New (not a refurbished job). Yes made in EU. Yes has all the BB9000 gadgets and even more and all he right frequencies... and yes works perfectly well. So money well spent! She's just started a biz and after using a basic cheapie, is in total awe

Hi. I recently bought a Blackberry Bold 9000 on the New Zealand equivalent of E Bay. It cost me $40 and came with a USB cord and a spare battery. Initially I had problems charging the battery via a lap top but charging is no longer a problem since I now charge directly from a wall socket every day. The Bold has a lot of good features as mentioned above. I particularly like the QWERTY keyboard as it makes me feel connected and in control of my phone. I don't have that same connectivity and control with the new touch screens! E mail functions great. Alarm/ clock and camera/ video are just right- nothing too complicated once you get your head around it. I also enjoy planning my day using the Bolds 'Task' application. It's nice to see the ticks beside jobs done at the end of a day. Suduko and Brickbreaker are great for a brain work out- quite aqddictive actually!!!! For me the Bolds biggest weakness if you could call it that is that it won't hook up with a web browser - it would have been nice to spend some time online watching a music video or whatever. But as someone above said if you need to use a web browser then go to your computer or laptop, and using a browser eats up battery time like no bodys business. So there we have it. It's big, it's bold, it'sblack and it's beautiful and I like it and will continue to do so. I hope this answered your question. In closing, I suppose I should mention that I don't work for Blackberry or any of its subsidary companies!!!!!!!

The only real downside to the phone is its thickness. It's a chunky monkey - only the 98xx really matches it

The Blackberry Bold 9000 was an awesome Blackberry when it was released and great to have but it's outdated compared to most of the newer models.

Welcome to the forums! I moved your thread to the relevant forum so that it would be in the right place.
I’m actually going to use the 9000 for just a little bit more. I’ve been eyeing this passport on eBay and I think I might get it, other than that I would get a keytwo.
