I have an old Blackberry 9700 that I have been using as an MP3 player for the past several years. I charged it to 100% about a week ago. A few days ago, I found out that it was dead. The battery has never died in a week like that! Even when I am heavily using it, it usually lasts 2 - 3 weeks. This phone has never given me any issues in the past.

I plugged in the Blackberry overnight. Nothing happened. Still would not turn on.

When plugged in, I see a red led light that stays on for 30 seconds, then turns off for 10 seconds, then back to red led light for 30 seconds, then off for 10. Repeat, repeat, repeat, for about 10 or 15 minutes until the light turns off permanently and does absolutely nothing

So I looked all over the internet and found tons of related problems with hundreds of answers—none worked.

I tried holding the end call button while turning it on. I tried the plugging it in without the battery and then inserting the battery. I tried the constantly hitting end call and/or holding end call. I tried leaving the battery out for 24 hours. Nothing worked

I eventually tried plugging it in via USB without the battery and then inserting the battery. When the screen lit up with a battery icon and a lightning bolt, I thought that was good news—except after a few minutes, it just went back 30 seconds/10 seconds interval for 10 to 15 minutes as if nothing changed.

So I eventually was going to follow the instructions for a nuked Blackberry. But the link the instructions link to (https://crackberry.com/blackberry-os) has no downloads whatsoever despite the fact that the link here (https://crackberry.com/blackberry-10...797.1548442693) claims that they do. All that that Blackberry OS page has is a two paragraph brief description of the Blackberry OS! I expected a long list of Blackberry phone models and what software they need, not just a two paragraph crash course on the Blackberry OS.

What do I do now? I cannot do the nuked Blackberry instructions because the link to the download is not a link to the download whatsoever! It is just a description of the OS!

I need the latest OS for a Blackberry 9700 or something

Those pages are over a decade old. If you're looking for BBOS downloads, you'd be better off digging through whatever links might still be alive for the 9700 here. - https://crackberry.com/blackberry-bold-9700 there's probably not many left given BBOS6 devices haven't been supported since 2013 and BlackBerry has long since moved on, most of the BBOS download pages have disappeared.

Seems like your battery is physically done.

I ended up using the software from the link I posted. At first, I loaded OS 6 on but it was too clunky and some things I liked about the device were no longer there (like being able to keyboard lock with a convenience key), so I repeated the process with OS 5 and I am back up and running.

    Sure. But I don't think it's a software issue.

Then why was it up and running after reloading the OS?
