Sounds like the other version wasn't cleanly uninstalled. I'd try uninstalling all versions again so that's there sign of it anywhere and go from there. The best way to uninstall it is to actually use the installer which also provides a uninstaller.

I agree with Bla1ze. I had an issue where I already had BlackBerry Link installed, but the Blend installation wanted to install some updates to Link along with updated drivers.

The installation failed, and in the process my Link was also uninstalled (not the config though).

In my particular case I ended up having to reset TCP/IP (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357), reboot and reinstall Blend. After that all worked nicely with my Z30 with 2072.

Try uninstalling Link too. Both programs use many of the same components.

I have blend loaded at work and home. Both on windows 7. Work opens and runs beautifully. The home version installs, but won't open when double clicking on blend icon. Tried everything possible. Drives me nuts.

OP, it sounds like there are locked files or active services which are interfering with the uninstall.

If you still encounter the same issue then try booting up Windows in safe mode. While in safe mode, perform the uninstall.

All you need to do is an ctrl alt del and bring up your task manager. Kill the process from there and it will close all processes. Shut down all from app, proc & svces

Just click the 'x' in the upper right corner of the window. Blend should them minimize into the Windows system tray.

Relax, I am an IT Engineer.

Reboot your machine and try running the installer again.

Make sure you have local admin rights

If that fails, then remove link and blend of it is installed under programs.

    Reboot machine and re run.

Also hit ctrl alt delete and make sure no process under the name of blend.exe is running

    Happy days

    Yes, try the following:

    1. Uninstall Link
    2. Reboot your system
    3. After restart, shut down all apps/utilities and virus programs, along with anything else not essential
    4. Reinstall Link
    5. Reboot and test

This worked for me after encountering the same issue.
