Your Wrong, more likely PT BB Merah Putih who build this device . It's the same manual options so far I can see Android has now with Marsmallow for Android. So my quess the camera software will be updated with Android 7.1 rolls out and I believe that the camera software on every BlackDroid is the same.

Oops. I thought you were referring to the KEYone.

Aurora camera app would be made by BB Merah Putih, yes.

But I also believe that the camera apps on the priv and dtek devices are all equal on android 6. The video shows the new software with manual settings we know but completely redesigned

The phone is made by the Indonesian company but the all the BlackBerry apps including the camera app is made by BlackBerry.

I believe the updated software is more to do with Android Nought

Why would you assume that if BlackBerry is still in control of the software?

Because the licencees will now put whatever camera they want into their devices. I don't expect BlackBerry to code for them in this respect.

In the case of TCL, they would have to develop camera software for their Alcatel-branded devices too. I'm sure there will be some common component cross overs.

Yes, because BlackBerry was responsible for the hardware in those days.

They also put many other different specs in their devices that BlackBerry has to code and optimize the OS for. It's not like they just slap their version of Android N on any device that comes out.

Well, I recall one of the main people responsible for the camera software, who came here often, was moved out to other areas within BlackBerry. It would appear that the team was broken up.

It's possible but i guess we'll find out soon enough when devices launch and google play shows the developer of their camera Apps.

    True enough.

Just to be clear, I'm just speculating. I don't have any inside knowledge.

Neither do I and speculating as well based on BlackBerry now branding themselves a software company.

I'm amazed that the camera app on screen info is in the english language, and not bahasa (Indonesia's official language).

It's definitely interesting to speculate what it might mean exactly.

I wonder what their licensing deal actually outlines with regard to what software they provide and what they do not. And, almost more curious to know, what sort of restrictions are there (if any) on software from other sources allowed to be pre-loaded on their devices?

Moto actually, but I suspect the core is the same on all Nougat, with optimization tweaks from the different manufacturers.

The capabilities regarding imagery are awesome, but so are the other features. I used the camera to create a contact from a business card the other day, have used it to scan barcodes, make phone calls, open links from printed urls, open maps from an address, etc. Google has progressed the camera into an incredibly useful app.

I am glad to see improvements in the camera overall in a BlackBerry device. Camera deficiencies have always been a bane to the BlackBerry experience. Truthfully though, I find that I rarely do more than just point and shoot.
