Today we received the update ACT575 for several KEY2LE models here in Germany (05. November).
Good start in 2021. Although, if one believed the augurs, there should be no more updates.

The autoloader has been posted here for some time, yes.
It was TCL that stated no more updates after the July patch. Clearly someone waived a contract or a statute in their faces to force the issue.
Securitypatches for more than two years and maybe more to come.

Also depends whether or not AOSP Oreo gets any more patches.
Nougat went to Oct 2019, Marshmallow went to Aug 2018, and Lollipop went to Sep 2017.
Well, it seems Oreo gets another reprieve. It's still being patched by Google in the Jan 2021 Security Bulletin.
Let's see if TCL will continue to be forced to keep going past Nov.
So as far as whether Oreo keeps being patched, is that just something to find out at the beginning of every month?
Yes.
Seems like the KEY2 and LE getting 1/2021 isn't completely out of the question then, especially if it requires almost no effort from TCL (probably the case since only a few PRD's even got anything past 5/2020)
Well, only 3 of the 170 device variants got the December patch, and the same thing could have been argued then.
As I said ... more to come

It solely depends on the details of the demand letter that was sent to TCL that forced them to do what they have already done this fall.
The KEY² updates (which were 3 of the 4 updates this fall) were limited to some N.A. units only. I suspect these were driven by a legal request from a Canadian carrier.
The 1 remaining patch (Nov for the KEY² LE) went to a decent global mix of devices. Not sure what forced the issue here, but it could be the stronger Euro warranty rules, as none of the many APAC device variants got it.
Could this also be Google being FORCED to extend Oreo support for some EU warranty requirement?
I can't think of any device in the wild that is still on Oreo and receiving patches. Everything else getting updates was either shipped with, or has already long moved on to, Pie or 10.
Still no update for the EU Key2? Nobody there with a means to force one?
^^^^
I just thought there would be someone that could force an update for the EU key2. Some customer or someone in media.
Kinda funny.
Although a promise wasn't specifically made in writing, maybe 2 years of updates were expected because of past BBMo devices. The KEY² got its 2 years, but the KEY² LE did not - hence perhaps the wider release for its update.
The reason for the KEY2LE update is much simpler.

Yeah my Galaxy S7 was on it last major update with OREO (before it died)... and that a 2016 phone.
But then it might have nothing to do strictly with Android for phones. As Android is used in other devices, the need to keep those patched could be just as important.
the android pie was a10yr anniversary major overhaul of android
there on its likely alittle more efficient than oreo and before.
security is security is security but the efforts are likely not below android 10 11 12 now.
There is nothing to this. Pie was an iterative improvement, just like all of the rest.
I have no idea what you're trying to say with this.security is security is security but the efforts are likely not below android 10 11 12 now.

ThthatTttttthe pie was an aniversary overhaul biggerthan many think but only an interim step to more significant ones after
