Does anyone know whether we will get a patch on BlackBerry Android to protect against this vulnerability?
The fix is in May's security patch.... so that's going to be a no right now.
I do expect that at some point KEY2 devices will get it, but older devices will not.
The key is to watch what you install. Should only come from Google Play and only from known developers.
Thanks for the reply. Apparently anything before Android 10 with, as you say, latest May patch. I'm always careful and my primary device is a Keyone running June 2019 update. My second device, Xiaomi mi a2 runs Android 10 and just got May update this morning so might be time to switch :(
Very few exploits can hurt you, without you making the choice to download questionable content to begin with.
Sadly BlackBerry users are conditioned to download stuff from anywhere.... 3rd Party App stores or just file archives. But you just never know, even the BBMo site got hacked one time and malicious code added. Thankfully it didn't target devices, but if it had....
I only use Play Store so I suppose that lessens the risk
