The ring tone slider on my Keyone and on my past PRIV regularly goes to zero intermittently with a result that I often don't hear my phone ringing. Vibrate isn't affected. I then have to go into Settings to reset the volume.
Does anyone know why this is happening and is there a way to set and forget the ring volume on my Keyone?

I've been experiencing this same problem on my BlackBerry10 phones for a while. I'm curious to what others will have to say.

Same with my Priv-004. Seems to happen when the phone is charging. When this happens if I open Sound & Notifications in Settings, the Ring Volume slider is down with a strike through the bell. I turn it up manually and hear the ring tone. If then leave the screen to time out requiring a double tap to re-awaken the Ring Volume is off again. This doesn't happen when running on battery.

I have mine set to Do Not Disturb at night, so all things are muted. Maybe your DND is set for strange times or situations? Might want to check that setting.
