I wonder if this will ever be implemented, now that there's Oreo.

Supposedly this can be used to bring back the BB10 Volume Key media playback control, which otherwise can only be implemented via third-party apps. The apps are sometimes unreliable, not to mention would not work if screen is off, without root. Whereas this is system, so it will work natively.

It's not on KEY2, so probably not unless someone at BlackBerry decides 'hey, we should enable this!'.

How do you set it up for long press? I have not been able to get frinky to work in that manner.
