As it should. I don't understand what you're trying to say.
Meaning it is only rolling out to unlocked devices so far. I have not heard (nor seen on my own locked device) of any carrier locked device getting the update.
I wouldn't expect it on carrier locked devices anytime soon. Unlocked devices normally get these updates in the first week of the month. It's now April 20th, and I still have not received an update on my DTEK60. Some are reporting they have. So don't expect it anytime soon on carrier locked devices. Not sure why April is taking so long.
Agree, I think it is hit or miss - locked vs unlocked as 98% of the time unlocked gets them first, but either Jan or Feb (don't remember which or both months) VZW users received it before any unlocked devices. Of course we had to wait forever for MM and 3-4 months with NO updates....
Finally received the update on my Shop BlackBerry Priv. So much for zero-day patching. Incidentally, my son's unlocked Asus phone received its update on April 5. We are both on Rogers.
Glad to hear you have it. However, this proves DTEK60 still does not have it. Very frustrating, I don't see how they can release it for DTEK50 on time, PRIV this late, and still no DTEK60? I really do not understand this process or why they couldn't just releasee them all simultaneously. Now you have the flagship getting it last. Stupid.
My unlocked Priv got the April patch earlier this morning.
So finally the update is rolling! At least for the Priv.
Just got on PRIV April update. STV100-4 Vodafone, Spain
Posted via CB10
Likewise, Carphone warehouse bought STV100-4 on 3 in UK received 20mb update tonight
Got the April update too (STV100-4, Netherlands).
Heavens 1, got the update Thu last week. Asia Pac v3. Has yours come yet, should of all come in at the same time in Australia
Nope, still waiting ....
And going by the posts above, other asia pacs haven't got theirs either.
Here is mine. I don't think Beta group would make any difference any more either
Interesting that the kernel version is 11 April
Got it just now on my PRIV, factory unlocked, Serbia. Nothing on 20th, when it was last checked for automatically. 20 MBs.
Still waiting for it with my DTEK 60
Same here. DTEK60 seems to be the only device not to get it yet. Really weird month for updates.
They said in betaforum they had problems with April patches on priv/60 so I guess they had to take only the 1. April sec-patch version and recompile very late in month (11th) after they fixed it.
Guess the dtek50 version has an way earlier compile date despite the 5th April sec-patch date.
Blackberry Priv on O2 in the UK, still no April update.
But you have the KEYone so it all balances out in the end..
Does anyone have a comment whether Bell is doing ok on update releases? We have had BB10 phones on Bell for years and haven't really cared when or if they send updates but with Android it may be important that we get timely security patches...?? My wife may switch to a Priv or KEYone and it's a tossup between $400 shopblackberry or a Bell device on a renewed contract for $10/ month extra.
Behold, my thumbs have spoken.
Question: Imaging, that the Keyone is not perfect at the beginning, how are bugfixes implemented into the phones ? Is this also done via the "Monthly security patch" or by other ways ? thx.
OS security updates are send out monthly (most of the time) - equally or even faster than Google nexus/pixel sec updates. Those are only the ones Google put out for every manufacturer and usually no simple bugfix.
Security Hot fixes that the allow no delay, even are pushed out as interim patches (happend once for PRIV for now).
OS version updates roll out if BlackBerry implemented also their special security hardening to the OS and so much slower than Google or some others, but for now PRIV got 6.0.1 after initially starting with 5.1 and we are awaiting 7.x but that is not sure on PRIV.
App Updates for the whole BB-Hub+ suite (+ Keyboard, DTEK, productivity tab) is usually updated on a monthly base if updates are coded. This way also new base features as another messaging service for hub are included.
There was a quote by Alan Thurber that BlackBerry will support all devices 2 year after EOL and Priv is not announces EOL so far:
