    Hi all,

    Exchange 2007
    BES 4.1.6

    We are currently experiencing intermittent problems with sending emails from BB devices. An error message on the bb states "unlisted error message" after speaking to support they have ask me to check a number of things including the BESadmin privileges. All the tests pass successfully. After investigating more i have noticed error messages on the BES server correspond to messages on the BB. For each message failed to send on the BB there are two event logs listed below. (Please note i have removed the computer name and the users email address)

    Additional info
    The BES can speak to exchange successfully and ping time always under 5ms.

    I have ran IEMSTest successfully.

    The next thing i can think of is maybe the 32 concurrent mapi connections from the BESadmin maybe occurring but i would expect an error relating to this.

    Event logs below:

    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: BlackBerry Messaging Agent Bes Server Agent 1
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 20097
    Date: 19/08/2008
    Time: 19:24:12

    User: N/A
    Computer: BES Server
    {User email address} MAPIMailbox::ResolveNamesMAPI - Exception handled

    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: BlackBerry Messaging Agent BES Server Agent 1
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 20000
    Date: 19/08/2008
    Time: 19:23:54
    User: N/A

    Computer: BES Server
    {User email address} Send() failed: ERR_FAIL, Tag=339872

    Any help would be appreciated, the annoying thing is it only happens 5% of the time otherwise the BES and BB are fine.

    Based on the resolvename error, I would check your Exchange server and Global Catalog servers for NSPI errors.

    We just upgraded to 4.1.6 from 4.1.5 to correct an contact update problem. After the upgrade, contacts and tasks finally started syncing.
    Now since the upgrade some of our BB's (not all) cannot send emails. Everything else works fine, they just can't send emails. I found the problem listed on KB13157 on the blackberry support

    40700] (05/10 08:32:05.411):{0x2514} {user@domain.com} Receiving packet from device, size=359, TransactionId=-125876270, Tag=10343138, content type=CMIME, cmd=0x3
    [30112] (05/10 08:32:05.411):{0x2514} {user@domain.com} Receiving message from device, RefId=61937140, Tag=10343138, TransactionId=-125876270
    [40291] (05/10 08:32:05.411):{0x2514} {user@domain.com} Refers to original message, RefId=-61687455
    [20265] (05/10 08:32:05.818):{0x2514} {user@domain.com} MAPIMailbox::Send(ppMAPIMessage) - SubmitMessage (0x80004005) failed
    [20000] (05/10 08:32:07.755):{0x2514} {user@domain.com} Send() failed: ERR_SUBMIT_MAIL, Tag=10343138
    [40277] (05/10 08:32:07.755):{0x2514} {user@domain.com} Sending message error to device for message 61937140
    [40583] (05/10 08:32:07.755):{0x2514} {user@domain.com} Sending packet to device, Size=45, Tag=3253538, TransactionId=-968922336

    They say to restart the Blackberry dispatcher, which did not work, otherwise install the microsoft hotfix article 929439.
    After upgrading to correct one problem, just to get another problem, I am a little nervous about the hotfix, but I thought I would let you know about it as well.

    Sorry to reply to an old topic but I am having the same issue except I am running on a 2003 Exchange. The same exact error is occurring when sending messages from the device. All other functions work. The following is troubleshooting steps I've taken.
    Checked permissions
    Wiped Handheld, deleted effected user from BES, added user, Activated device.
    Applied Hotfix from MS
    Restarted Server
    Restarted Services

    Running 4.1.6, one device is the 8820 running 4.5.110 OS, second device is 8300 running

    Here is what I have noticed. There is a total of 11 devices and only 4 were effected. This was yesterday, today, two resolved and two have not. My thought it maybe there is a policy causing this that is refreshing? Any help or pointers is much appreciated.

    Update: Upgraded to 4.1.6 MR5, still nothing.

    If your getting the ERR_SUBMIT_MAIL error in the MAGT log file then it is permissions related. Are the two users in domain admin or enterprise admin groups?

    If they are you need to give the besadmin account send as rights on all users objects in the domain. Then install the windows support tools and apply the following permissions.

    dsacls "cn=adminsdholder,cn=system,dc=<domain>,dc=<local> " /G "<domain>\besadmin:CA;Send As"
    dsacls "cn=adminsdholder,cn=system,dc=<domain>,dc=<local> " /G "<domain>\besadmin:CA;Receive As"
    dsacls "cn=adminsdholder,cn=system,dc=<domain>,dc=<local> " /G "<domain>\besadmin:CA;Change Password"
    dsacls "cn=adminsdholder,cn=system,dc=<domain>,dc=<local> " /G "<domain>\besadmin:RPWP;Personal Information"
    dsacls "cn=adminsdholder,cn=system,dc=<domain>,dc=<local> " /G "<domain>\besadmin:RPWP;Phone and Mail Options"
    dsacls "cn=adminsdholder,cn=system,dc=<domain>,dc=<local> " /G "<domain>\besadmin:RPWP;Web Information"

    Then set each account that sits in the domain admin group to inherit rights.

    Stop the BES services for two hours, then start them again and try sending again.

    Hope this helps.

    Apparently I cannot submit the link I used to fix the issue but do a search for Send As Issue on the Blackberry website.
    Following the instructions I was able to get all users working except for one (myself) I then ran the command above from Rh1noo (Thank you) and everything seems to be working like it did before.
    Before the Blackberry Send Mail went down, everything was working until the 2007 Daytime Savings patch was installed and modified the store.exe file.
