    It seems the Aristo and Anisio will be launching with some sort of dual-core Snapdragon 600. The quad-core version is what's in the Samsung Galaxy S4.

    So, if the UI is super smooth, benchmarks show that the phone matches the performance of the GS4, the battery lasts 50% longer and the camera offers roughly the same functionalities, would you consider this a flagship device?
    After all, it's what's Samsung will have on the shelves as their flagship device for a few months still.

    Yes, this phone won't have a 1080p screen, yes, the camera is not 13MP.

    Also, this only works if the performance of the Aristo matches the one of the GS4. If it's at Moto X level (same specs as the Aristo), then I don't know how BB will convince the masses to buy it at a premium.

    I think of it like this, comparing to Samsung's product line:

    Note Family = A10
    Galaxy S3/4 = Z10 And Q10
    Lower tier = Q5

    That would make/keep the z10 and q10 as the flagship devices in my books. The a10 would just be the monstrosity phone for nutcases who enjoy phablets

    I disagree . I think the Z10 line is to go head to head with iPhones (one handed) and the A10 is aiming at Android (Larger phones). I don't see BB make 6" phablets.

    I may be just such a nut, but I do follow your line of thinking. I'm not sure who first used the term "Flagship" to describe the A10, but it does confuse me. When first announced I thought the term indicated that the Z10 and Q10 lines would be upgraded so I was surprised when the A10 had a different form factor. Given the stingy spec uptick from Z10, Q10 to the A10, the logic of BB'S statements are that size is all. BlackBerry should have pitched the A10 to the phablet niche modestly if it is set on such an uninspiring spec update.

    It's more like

    A10 = GS4
    Z10 = GS3

    The A10 cannot compete with the Note series. Hell, it can't even compete with the GS4 if those rumored specs turn out to be accurate. Nutcases who enjoy phablets will be looking at the HTC One Max, the Xperia Z Ultra, the Note 2/3, or if they are on a budget, the Galaxy Mega series.

    I'm happy with the a10 specs.

    Only android oems have those top none needed specs. Apple, Google, Microsoft and and now Blackberry, know they don't need to join a pointless spec race when its about the experience.

    If the benchmarks will blow everything out now out of the water and competitive with late 2013- early 2014 phones then it doesn't really matter if it's dual core. However, if it doesn't then they should be thinking quad core
