I just bought a 9720 but it doesn't say curve anywhere, neither does any online site, they call it simply the BB 9720 so is it 100% classified as a Curve? I feel it's like a Hybrid between a Bold and a Curve gettings bits and pieces from here and there

big battery and big sized keyboard like the Bold, but low res screen and separated keys like the Curve, and a crappy fixed focus camera from both the Curves and the 9900

I believe that BB is moving away from the old naming practice. it's jyst the number now.

if anything its made in more terms to a bold specs by the numbering but yes blackberry have stopped the "curve" bold" torch" naming and just gone for numbers now or letters and numbers with bb10

BB might not have said it is a curve , but surely is a curve equivalent. Can't even compare with the quality of any bold series for that matter. Feels sort of cheap plastic every where, especially the battery door. Ring tone quality is also poor.

It's a travesty that they discontinued making the classy BlackBerry Bolds to produce this thing.

I managed to get my hands mid December on the ebb of 2 97series phones. Every place I went to checking out new devices were pushing either the 9900 or 9720 down my throat. I could've got a free Playbook if I chose the Curvey-bold, but it I couodnt let go of that true bold feel. The 9900 was well established at this time too but it was a monstrosity in comparison previous BB's.

9790 was definately best for a veteran user with nothing to prove.

Too true, nothing beats their size shape and feel, you can't "discountinue" the wheel, and come back marketing an octogon !
