Will 8GB SD MicroSD work with Sprint 8830?
-
- Does anyone know what the physical addressing limit for SD cards is for the 8830? I have been unable to find an answer to this question in any reference materials and have gotten no answer from my emails to RIM.
I'd hate to buy a 8GB card only to find out it is capable of addressing 16GB. If it's just a software issue, that could have already been addressed in some of the 4.5.x.x betas.01-06-09 10:01 AMLike 0 - jeffhRetired ModeratorThe only size constraint that I've seen is OS related, as per this chart:
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 Up to 2 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 Up to 4 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 Up to 4 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.3.0 Up to 8 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.5.0 Up to 8 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.5.0.81 and later Up to 16 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.6.0 and later Up to 32 GB
I excerpted this data from Pete6's post which is linked in my sig. Given the 8830 is nearing the end of its life, I'd be surprised if anything above OS4.5 is ever released for it. And 4.5 is still in beta.01-06-09 10:15 AMLike 0 - The only size constraint that I've seen is OS related, as per this chart:

I was told that 4.2.2.196 supported 8 GB01-06-09 10:24 AMLike 0 - jeffhRetired ModeratorThat's correct. Sorry, I should have updated Pete's chart when I posted it.
