    Would the BB 8820 OS work on this phone?

    or any OS thats for a GSM BB ?

    nope. the OS's are device dependant. as far as I know the newest beta is 4.5.0.101 at least thats what I am running. and cdma and gsm arent switchable I dont think. dont quote me on that last part though...

    That would be a correct statement as of current. The loader wont even let you load it on the phone otherwise.

    Wont work. The phone was built for certain frequencies and they are unchangeable thus far.
