My 8830 was working fine tethered to my laptop. Today I get a "modem hardware" error (error 692) but I also notice a "modem mode enabled" banner at the top of the screen. I don't believe this there when the 8830 was working before.
Should I unenable the modem? How? Or do I need to de something else?
Go to options, mobile network, then turn off the data services, save that change then go back in and re-enable it and it should go back to normal. Also, a battery pull should work too. Same thing happens to me every once in awhile.
