Hi, I'm new to the forum thing.

Ive had a couple of blackberry's and I'm looking to get the work life balance going. Currently i have the 8800.

Can can you turn the data function off on any of the devices so the phone, SMS and Internet stay on?

As you know, it has the auto on/ off function, but with the nature of my job, I don't want to be annoyed with the work emails when I'm at home

Welcome to CB! I could be mistaken, but I think if you turn off the data network using Options > Manage Connections > Turn off the data network, you will not be able to get just the Internet and SMS/MMS to stay on. I believe it is an all or none setup. If you are on a BES server, it is probably up to the administrator. Another member may have more input as well on this.
