Call the guys at Dialnet in Los Angeles at 323-651-5555. They have the part in stock and will replace it in 30 minutes. The price is reasonable... problem solved without spending big bucks.

My 8320, same problem, only a month old. The trackball rolls in all directions, but the "cursor" will not move to the right, unless I press very firmly down. Does this sound like a dirt issue ? Thanks !

You can simply install a new trackball yourself!!

    No need for anything else...

go to cnn.cn or BBEnriched to get a replacement (use promo code "B3rryPart$" on BBEnriched for a discount)

Then you simply drop the ball into place and put the chrome bezel back in.

It is quite easy to get the trackball out and replace it yourself.

It is harder to fully take it apart, including the little rollers, and thoroughly clean it.

The problem you are having sounds like it could be fixed with a clean, but find a place that will send you a replacement in case you have troubles putting it back together. I wish the blackberry os, had shortcut keys to move the curser in the four basic directions, so when this happens you are not totally stranded; call it a blackberry spare tire feature.

    New Trackball on ebay: $7
Saving $50 by replacing it yourself: Priceless!!

I still cannot understand people paying anywhere from $30-$50 to have this done for them! I guess paying someone else to do something that takes less than a minute to do is easier than learning how to take care of your own stuff (and this applies to cars and homes also)

I bought a replacement trackball from ebay for about $6! I'm playing the waiting game right now. Waiting for it to get here. I've been without my trackball since May 25th. I took it out & apart to clean it, and lost one of the rollies, therefore rendering it useless. And let me tell you. It is a MAJOR pain in the a** not having a trackball!

I cleaned mine out earlier this week. I broke the inside metal ring in two placws, but I still managed to assemble everything back in place (praise the Lord Halelujah!). My track ball is workin like new now. The pinstack link works, but watch out for the weak metal ring though. Keep a replacement trackball handy, just in case.

They're called Wireless Waves or something like that now -- my trackball died this morning, I found the forum on a Google search, and sure enough, 5 minutes, they replaced the ball, got a nifty blue color even.

Both my and my husbands trackball had fallen our of our curves, and Sprint wanted to charge us a minimum of $120 (each) to pop new ones back in! We searched amazon and found some for about $6 and poped them in ourselves.... However, about a week after, I realized that we had not had our phones for even a year and that there is no way it was just a coincodence that both our balls fell out. So I called the company (Sprint) and the rep said that this is a big problem for blackberries and that since we have not had our phones for a year it is under the manufactures warranty and she will send us two new phones SWEET! I say, befor forking out lots of money for somthing so small, ask...
