Running 4.5... When I go to Profiles/Advanced/Menu/Phone does it matter if its "In Holster" or "Out of Holster" volume?

It's not VZW!!! All 8830s from ALL carriers do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
True. BUT, VZW has sold a LOT of 8830's, and a LOT of VZW customers have complained, and VZW COULD have (on behalf of their customers) gone to RIM and said "fix it". But they didn't, because they don't REALLY care. And even if every customer that's pissed about the various shortcomings of the 8830 left VZW, they STILL wouldn't care.

I just installed the .51 beta and followed your instructions and it worked! The volume is great now.

The only problem is my trackball click is gone. But I'm sure it was there after I loaded .51. Any way to get it back?

.33 had the no click bug. .51 fixed that. Make sure you have the right version installed.

Well, let's see. I think it's just you. Set the volume to high and there's no way you won't notice this. Could also be the ringtone you're using, but even with the stock ones, it's blatantly obvious... I mean obvious.

Download the video from post #6. Unzip it to somewhere where you can find it, then use Mass Storage Mode to copy it to the Video folder on your Media Card.

I guess it's right what they say about horses.... You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

I'm also looking forward to loke coming back and saying that it didn't work... because they are probably running OS 4.2.

Hey I just wanted to say thanks. I've tried everything in the world to get the volume to adjust. This temp fix works like a charm.

True but whose problem it is is of little relevance. The carriers are RIMs customers and we are the carriers' customers. If it were important enough the carriers would have demanded that RIM fix it and if RIM had half a brain, they would be reading these boards and proactively fix issues that are easily fixable. You have elegantly demonstrated how easy it would be to fix this nagging issue. In the end neither RIM nor the carriers seem to care less about us end users.

No news here. It's blantantly indicated in my posts that this will not work on anything but 4.5.

Shouldn't matter where the video is. Most people have memory cards though. You shouldn't hear any sound with the video.

Try a battery pull and then once the phone comes back up, play the video in Media Player. This was tested under 4.5.0.33 and 4.5.0.51. If you have another version, post the version number so it can be investigated further. All else fails, try holding your mouth just right when you're doing it.
