2 different problems/questions.

For some reason, I can't put my 8830 into standby mode via the mute button on the top. I push it and nothing happens. I tried battery pull/hard reset and still nothing. Any other tips?

I haven't figured out what controls the keypad lighting up or not. I couldn't find a specific setting under display for just the keypad, just the screen brightness, delay, etc. HELP!!!!!

To place into standby via the 'Mute' button on top you must hold the button, not just press it. Hopefully that helps

The keypad lights up when an ambient light sensor in your device senses that the lighting conditons are dim. This is out of control of the user, from what I know.

They may possibly be a third party app to intervene with these settings... but I am not sure
