Ok. I have an 8830 WE on VZW. My first one recognized the 6 gb card I got for it. That one broke and I got a replacement. Now it won't recognize it. The people @ Verizon said that I needed to update the software of the phone and that I could use my desktop application to do it but I couldn't find a button for it anywhere. How do I update the software on this phone so it will recognize the 6 gb card? Thanks for your help

You might want to post what version you have now. I believe Options (Wrench symbol), Status may show you the version.

4.2.....196 allows larger cards.

You need to get a copy of Desktop Manager (DM) installed (it was on the CD) and then the OS for the phone must be installed. Both the OS and DM can be found on the verizon Blackberry support site. You actually install the OS on your computer which then allows it to upgrade the phone.

Dakotadave86, Welcome to Crakberry Forum! There are several older post that give instructions how to upgrade your BB. Feel free to email or IM me I have a word doc saved with links and details to upgrade to 4.5.0.127. I use a 8gbsd card and sync via iTunes and Blackberry Media Sync.

My current operating system is v4.2.2.196. If kwilson is running 4.5.0.127 I'm apparently very behind. On the verizon site, it gave me an update for the VZWAccess Manager. Is that what I need to download?

IM me via BBM (blackberry messenger) VZW does not support any OS over 4.2.2.196. but there is a Thread that is posted that talks about another carrier (Bell) that has posted 4.5.0.127. BUT there are several simi easy steps that must be completed before it will load on a VZW 8830.
