Is there a way to expand the text field to more than 160 characters or a way so that you can continue typing and if neede the phone seperates it into 2 messages? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!!

Unfortunately, no. Anything more than 160 characters is considered an email. There are a few threads on this topic already. Do a search and see what comes up.
