Bought an 8820 on eBay that was supposedly unopened but it's been used on the Orange network in the UK. The orange startup screen still comes up even though ive completely wiped the device and reloaded an ATT image from RIM's website. When I send the registration message I get nothing back for the host routing table. What am I missing here? Doesn't "wipe completely" mean the device is wiped completely? Why does it still think the phone is in the UK?

I'm not even sure it's unlocked, it keeps showing UK time. But if that was the case it shouldnt work with my ATT Sim card right? (which it does)

Have you tried changing the time zone?
Also make sure you have subscribed to an ATT unlimited data plan otherwise the EDGE wont show up.
if all else fails-- try to return it to the seller and buy one from a trusted seller.
