    Hi everyone,

First time attempting an install. Sprint customer and waited until the official version. I've downloaded .135 and it's running. I'm experiencing a few issues:
    1. Delay in trackball, regardless of what app I'm clicking on or using. Does anyone have a solution for this? Delay of over 1 second when 4.2.2 was instantaneous or "normal".

    2. I use 3rd party app from Empower for my BES mail. 4.2.2 worked wonderfully. I had to uninstall this and reinstall after 4.5. It still searches for my email for a few seconds before locating the inbox.

    3. While my font sizes are correct from 4.2.2 to the new 4.5, my email font size is different. Can someone help with this?

    4. Ringtones are totally weird. HELP!!

    Thanks in advance.

What is the difference between the Bell OS .127 and the Sprint 4.5.0.135? I upgraded from 4.2x to 4.5.0.127 with no hitches. Any opinions on whether it's worth upgrading again?

    3. Go to Menu, Options, Screen/Keyboard to adjust fonts.

    4. OS 4.5 increases the volume significantly. Go into Profiles, Advanced, Choose which profile to edit, Menu, Edit, choose Phone, select ringtones and volume. I had to change some of my sounds for messages and texts because I didn't like the way the old tones sounded.

Been using .127 for over a month now. I've tried all the correct steps to uprgade to .135 for what ever reason my VZW 8830 fails to see the .135 upgrade. One thing you will lose going to .135 is your minute timer used during phone calls. I've been told you got more free memory with .135.

thanks, Kris. Think i'll hold off on the Sprint upgrade for now. Perhaps Verizon will actually come out with a 4.5X upgrade, but by that time I'll probably have a new BlackBerry or iPhone...

I installed .135 this weekend. All went well but every time I did a battery pull or reset the device my icons would be randomly placed on the Deskop. After arranging them too many times I finally got fed up and reinstalled 4.2.2.196.
Has this icon issue happed with anyone else?

    Thanks,

An iPhone because I have 4 Macs and no PCs. I love my BB8830, don't get me wrong, but I'd rather not have to run Windows to get all the functionality of Desktop Manager (backups, install new software, etc). For me the iPhone makes more sense.

Software For BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8830 smartphone

    BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.201 (Multilanguage)
    Package Version: 4.5.0.201
    Consisting of:

    Applications: 4.5.0.135
    Software Platform: 3.4.0.28
    File name: 8830uAMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel201_PL3.4.0.28_A4.5.0.135_Sp rint.exe
    File size: 82.14MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

For install instruction to load any carrier 8830 OS on your BB:

    1. Back up data on Desktop Manager under Back up/restore option
    2. Back up your 3rd party apps. Instructions here-->
    3. Disconnect your BB from Desktop Manager
    4. Download desired OS to your PC
    5. Install/run OS to PC
    6. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
    7. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it.
    8. Do not unplug BB during the process. It will take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade.

***Steps 2 is optional but recommended
I did this update yesterday, and it seems to have worked. The one thing is when I used to look at an email on my BB , it would show on my computer that the email was read and vice versa. Also, when I deleted it from my BB, it would delete on the computer as well. Now that is not happening.
I tried to synch the two ( I don't know if that is the right thing), but that didn't make a difference.
    What should I do?
Please don't use too many abbreviations if you are able to give me an explanation. I don't understand half of what is on this website!
    Thanks

First, make you ran the proper upgrade. The one you mention in your post is for the BB 8830, not the 8320 Curve. That might be the problem right there!

I did do the update for the 8320, I just copied the wrong thing, I guess for this post.
So, any suggestions on how to make my email disappear from my BB if I delete it on the computer, and vice versa?
Is anyone else having this problem?

    Thanks

I did this upgrade over the weekend, and everything seems to be working fine. I don't know if it is related to the upgrade or not, but I had an issue with syncing my calendar after the upgrade. I had to delete my intellisync folder, and that corrected things. Other than that, the upgrade is good.

The original or "old" Today PLUS theme does not work on OS 4.5. The icons do not stay where you place them. I went back to the Today (no plus) theme and the icons stay fine. I do miss the PLUS theme and have been looking to see if there is any one that I'm willing to purchase.

Loaded it on my VZW 8830WE and it works without a hitch. Love the GPS functionality. That was the one thing that bothered me about Verizon. I also love the improved browser

Well I've been runing this update since it came out, and I'm downgrading to .127! My blackberry messenger doesn't always work now, messages take hours to send sometime or just seconds. Calls can either ring properly or not ring at all! My network connection sometimes turns itself off now. My data connection has to be continually reset. Don't even get me started about my calender...

** hum waste of my time, ah well such is life. For an "official" release I'm shocked with the amount of bugs I have with this phone now

Thanks to you all. You just saved the landfill one more phone. Upgraded the software no problem, and I even ended up with MMS. MMS was the only reason I was going to change to the Curve.

Same here- I'm not entirely sure if being able to view a half-assed youtube video and SprintTV is worth putting up with rediscovering where all of my icons are. I reset quite often.....
