Newest 8830 OS: v4.5.0.135 (Multilanguage)
- Well, was running DM just a bit ago to backup AND sync my data and it popped up and said a new Update was available. But it concluded nothing was available.
So I decided since I had downloaded the Sprint OS to install it. Do so and all I get is DOWNgrade to 4.2 is available!!! Since I have the Bell 4.5, I did not understand that but backed out of it.
Tried with Internet blocked. Still no go. AHA, I had forgotten to remove VENDOR file.
The upgrade (hopefully!) is occurring now.
But I really don't know where/why it found the 4.2 OS - maybe it went to Verizon's site and saw that was the official.
I wish the reload were not such a time-taking, hair-raising experience. Last time I still had to do a bunch of manual restores of bookmarks and other app data and recreate my folders and restore email.
We shall see how this one goes (lots of usb beeping is occurring...)02-28-09 02:14 PMLike 0 - Okay, to some extent...
But on the Today Theme, I am not seeing all of my Calendar events. It appears to be only showing BIRTHDAYS but items scheduled for next week are not showing. It is not just that those are recurring in my calendar because my sister's anniversary which is next week and set as recurring is NOT showing either.
Is there a Theme tweak or is something else happening???
Forget it!!! Now, after going in/out of Calendar 3 or 4 times (no reboot), it is showing next weeks' items! Odd.Last edited by F2; 02-28-09 at 03:01 PM.
02-28-09 02:58 PMLike 0 - I would just be speculating but since two carriers have issued the OS, I would expect verizon to do so EVENTUALLY.
But both the Bell and now the Sprint versions can be used so....03-01-09 04:35 PMLike 0 - I am currently running the Bell update and from what I read above the Sprint version is an improvement on that. So maybe Verizon's might be yet another incremental build and improve things further? I will wait a week or two and see if it appears before jumping to the Sprint version.03-01-09 05:38 PMLike 0
- You may have to check the box(es) for Doc-to-go in Desktop Manager. So try add or update apps. Once installed you can run one of the apps and then UPDATE to get sheets-to-go.03-01-09 09:37 PMLike 0
- Has anybody heard of any problems w/ the world service while overseas after loading 4.5. We are two phones w/ Verizon, loaded them w/ the Bell version of 4.5 and they worked great stateside. However, both which normally worked fine overseas are now only working intermittently. We have another user w/ a Storm who is working fine.03-01-09 10:19 PMLike 0
- Ok, the calendar on the home screen where it shows the next 3 or 4 calendar entries (using the dimension today theme) now shows the wrong calendar since I upgraded. I have two email addresses on the phone and its displaying the one I'm not using for the calendar. Basically what I'm saying is how do I switch it back??? Thanks in advance guys.

03-01-09 10:22 PMLike 0 - Is it normal for my "About" to not work in my settings? It hasn't worked since I installed .127 and now I'm not even sure if I actually have .135 installed since DM just says "4.5 Upgrade" and I can't check my "About" to confirm...

8. Do not unplug BB during the process. It will take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade.
***Steps 2 is optional but recommended
Here is what happened to my 8830 after I installed 8830uAMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel201_PL3.4.0.28_A4.5.0.135_Sp rint.exe and launched BDM 4.7.
1. I launched BDM 4.7 and it saw there was a 4.5 update, but after I clicked continue I got a message no other updates.
2. I closed BDM 4.7 and launched Loader.exe, it saw a 4.5 update but it was the same .127 updated I loaded on 2/10/09. So I removed both .101 and .127 from my PC/installed applications and re-installed .135.
3. I restarted Loader.exe did not see the .135 upgrade.
What Gives????03-03-09 03:06 PMLike 0 -
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com03-03-09 03:37 PMLike 0 - Noob here, I downloaded the update to my desktop and try to run it and it kicks a message back saying it's not a valid windows file. Downloaded it again to assure there wasn't an issue with the download and it did the same thing. My DM is v 4.7 and it's not finding any updates at all.
Any suggestions?03-03-09 03:40 PMLike 0 -
