Does anyone know of a way to dial by letter on the 8830? For instance, 1-800-blackber. Is there a screen you can use or something I am missing?

Simply hold the alt key and type the letters you want.

Wow! I have had a motorola Q for the last year and didnt think this was possible with the smart phones unless you had a plam touch screen, now i have the 8830 so thanks for the info.

John Clark is right AGAIN! Hold the ALT key down and dial the letters you need.

Really?? I have to try this. I had been trying to remember how the letters were distributed on a regular phone (and it did not work!) I have to try this. It seems to easy.
