It seems like everyone who purchases a BlackBerry is required to spend a minimum of 2 hours with customer support in the first 24 hours of use. I spent mine last night because I am unable to receive MMS messages. I was told by the Verizon salesperson that because this phone does not have a camera it will not support MMS (I know that is not correct). The customer support could not find the answer either, so now I am loooking elsewhere for help.

Here is the problem: If someone sends me a picture with or without text I do not get the message. There is no indication that it was ever sent to me. I can receive emails and SMS messages all day long, but will never know if someone sent me an MMS message until they call and ask me if I got the picture and of course I have no idea it was ever sent.

I have changed and re-changed every setting on my BB but cannot get it to work.

    ANY HELP?!

I did a mms test with my BB8800 and my husbands nokia 6220, then it enabled me to receive a mms. Now the key is you have to send one to another bluetooth enabled phone first, then you can start receiving them. As crazy as that sound it worked for me and I have had no problem with that feature since.

Give it a shot and see if it will work for you.

If Verizon is like most carriers, you have to SEND an MMS from your device FIRST, in order to 'activate it', per se'. Once that's done, you should be able to send and receive MMS messages...

Even on T-Mobile, if you don't send an MMS first, but receive one you have to go to some website, and enter details from the notification you receive, just to see the MMS! But, if you've sent at least one MMS, then it works like it's suppose to...

Ps: Kermalou, no need to shout, or be rude! Be nice...

Might not work on the 8830, there's no option to send an MMS message anywhere on the phone.

In regards to receiving the MMS though, at the very least you should be receiving a text message that tells you to go to vzwpix.com to retrieve your MMS messages (somewhattt viewable within the BB Browser, but most cases you're stuck at a computer logging in). If you have text messages blocked or something, that may be the reason you're not notified. They seem to be of the type of "free" text messages that are sent from VZ though, similar to the usage and balance text messages. But if anyone knows HOW to send an MMS from the 8830 on VZ, please share =)

Ok, just checked a 8830, and it does NOT give you the option to send an MMS! But what I was saying above applies to T-Mobile and AT&T...

tadams, no, you cannot receive MMS on your 8830 at all. At best, you should be getting a text on yoru 8830 notifying you that you have a "pic/vid" message awaiting you at www.vzwpix.com, where you can login with your phone number and password to view your messages. somehow, my standard password was on there, and i never remember setting up the account, but i may have. check for yourself.

That's not really true. I have never had to call support for a bb issue and I know several people who also haven't had problems.

The phone is most definatly capable of doing MMS. The problem is that just as with GPS Verizon has disabled this as well. There is an mms cod file in the 8830's OS load and there's also an MMS heading in the Manual for the phone. The manual states that MMS capabilities are tied to whether or not you have an MMS capable phone number and that's controlled by your carrier. Looks like Verizon strikes again.

Which version are you using? For me i just did a few simple steps to activate MMS.

1)In your main screen, selection OPTIONS.
    2)Then, select ADVANCE OPTIONS
3)In your advance options, search and select HOST ROUTING TABLE
4)Next, you will have to select your own wireless path.
5)Click on the Menu button (the blackberry logo on it with the 7 dots).
    6)Select REGISTER NOW.

After step 6 you will receive a message saying that the MMS is being activated, and you try again to send or get someone to send an MMS to you to test. hope it works!
