I just upgraded to the 8800 curtesy of my boss and I was just wondering what the 2 gold contacts on the side by the function key are for?

I thought that maybe they were for some kind of charger for the phone or something like that.

That's where the battery connects from the inside.

So is that so you could have some kind of docking cradle for it that would charge it thru there? Or what?

I know you can't charge from there and it has nothing to do with docking. From my understanding its just there as a design but nothing to do with functionality.

I've heard that asked dozen of times and that's the first answer I've heard. Maybe that's why I haven't heard it before since not everybody uses it that way.
