My 8820 has lost its sound- it doesn't ring, beep, talk or make any sounds at all even if I turn on Loud in the phone profiles. The Satnav doesn't talk either and looking at the screen while driving is not a good or legal thing to do - help please!! Anyone know how to reset or do something to restore sound, thanks, Jill

Have you tried a battery pull?

No - am a bit nervous! Does that mean i take the battery out and put it back in again? And what do I risk losing by doing that? Thanks J

Battery pulls are common and usually the first step when troublshooting an issue. With your phone on, remove the battery for 30 seconds, then put it back in.

If this happens after receiving a picture/sound msg- go to the main menu and open your voice dialing feature. If you don't hear the complete " say a command" prompt hit end the re-launch the voice dialing feature. If you hear the entire msg- sound restored. This happen A LOT with my Curve.

I had a similar thing occur in that everything soundwise worked except I could not hear anything when making calls and the recipient couldn't hear me. So a battery pull did the trick, thanks for the advice.
