I've never even touched a Blackberry prior to today when mine came in. My phones have always been pay-as-you-go. As extreme a newb can get I still know that there are some software upgrades and "must have" items that I should get and I rather here it from the people here who actually have experience rather then a random person just trying to make commission.
So, what should I be getting?

And if it makes any difference my phones with Rogers Wireless (horribly the only GSM provider in Canada)

Any help or suggestions will do, thank you in advance.

I think there are lots of programs you could add....Initially i would get used to what the BB can do and more importantly what you want it to do...

    But look at:

    Viigo (Virtual Reach)
    BB Spell
    Opera Mini or Dimension
    iSkoot

And take a search round here....

If you IM on Yahoo, MSN, GoogleTalk, AIM, etc..., you'll want JiveTalk.
    Google Maps
    BeamBerry
    OperaMini Browser
    BlackBerry Video Converter

iSkoot for Skype, if you're onto Skype, or need to do international calls.
