I have an 8830 WE on Alltel, and I have tried everything that I can find to get my gps working. I have installed and activated Telenav, I did this yesterday (paying the $10 to do it) and canceled about 10 minutes later. For about 5 hours yesterday I could get a sat lock within a couple of minutes every time I tried in any program. After that however zero locks.

My question now becomes is there a way to permanently unlock the gps so that it is useable in Nav4all, google and BBmaps?

I read through a thread about the curve but didn't know if that would work for me.

I am running bb system 4.5.0.101 if that makes a difference.

I am sorry for bringing up another gps thread but after reading for a couple of days I am about ready to give up.

Your GPS should be unlocked already.

That sounds more like the phone itself. Have you taken it back into the store yet??

I also have a 8830 WE from Alltel. I also bought the telenav to activate the gps. I have not canceled yet. it seems that after a battery pull, I must start telenav before any other gps apps will work. Frustrating...

Thanks for the reply, I guess I will just have to cough up the money or just live without it

I thought I'd heard that Alltel had been purchased by Verizon - if true, maybe it is suffering from the same issue as Verizon berries - GPS is locked to apps except vz navigator - so Verizon can get more of your $'s.
