Im reading the thread on the OS and it says format media card. How do you format your media card? I put mine in from the box and it worked

Go to Options > Media Card and press the menu key. Select Format card and your done.

It's not necessary, but I recommend it to eliminate the slight risk that the card could have come with stuff you don't want preinstalled.

I agree with Jeff on that point as well. Better to format it than run the risk that something is going to be installed from the card on your BB that you don't need. Once formatted, you then know only what you choose to load on the card will be there. No surprises!

im trying to format a media card on a friends blackberry and i go to options, media card, menu key and format card, and it just freezes up and wont do anything unless i take out the battery. Any suggestions on what to do?

card may have a bad sector. try formatting it in a pc then in the phone.

i plugged the phone up to the computer and went to computer and clicked it and it said format card and it is doing something but im not for sure what..??

You really don't want to format it on a pc using the phone as the reader per se.
However, when it is done, format the card using the phone.

The pc uses its own format, while the phone has a different format.
