I need help. I have a basic phone plan, and a blackberry 8820. I was told by att that I still wouldnt be able to use wifi on my home network unless I had a blackberry data plan. Is this true! Also, now when I do try and aces the internet it says im not currently in an area that can handle data communication. Please help!

Hi Lu. I have a tmo BB without the data plan or hotspot@home but I am still able to jump onto(connect to) wifi networks. The connection is sometimes spotty. I think it is because I have very good cell coverage in my area and the phone only switches to wifi when wifi gives the strongest signal. I often see the UMA signal pop up in the corner of my BBs screen and I always check for open wireless networks wherever I go.
