I see Spot and Navizon GPS software. Are one of these programs recommended for the 8830 or is there a better one?

    Thanks

I'm sure they would work, and so should TeleNav; albeit there is a fee for it...

In one of my many communications to Verizon about the 8830 I received this statement about GPS utilization on this particular device.

Regarding the GPS features of our devices, such as the Blackberry 8830, please note that our GPS devices are only supported with Emergency 911 services. Unfortunately you will not be able to use the internal GPS feature of our devices with commercial GPS applications. To use a commercial GPS application would require the use of an external Bluetooth GPS receiver.

    So, NO GPS FOR YOU!

I read over on Blackberryforums.com that the Verizon GPS service will be an additional $9.99 per month. Looks like Verizon is looking for another revenue stream.

i am so disgusted for disabling this feature, it is a rim feature. any other vendor does not mess with the default features. verizon just want more money from you. if i were you i wil drop them so fast, and get a different service/carrier - VERIZON SUCKSSSSSS
