Is the 8830 compatible with a 3rd party credit card applicaltion?
The iphone is, but I don't want to go there. I have Sprint so have to stick with the curve or the new tour.

I know there was a credit card processing application that worked with a bluetooth credit card reader featured in the blog a while back. Do a quick search, you should find what you are looking for.
There is a credit card app called MerchantWare. It only works with Merchant Warehouse, so if you want to use that software, you need to change your merchant account to their service.
ChargeBerry is another app that is supposedly coming, but other than the request for beta testers (about two months ago), there hasn't been any word, and the ChargeBerry.com website hasn't seen any updates to it, either. ChargeBerry is supposed to work with existing merchant accounts, but it still vaporware.
There is a credit card app that does not require swipes, readers or cables by ChargeBerry. It works with Authorize.net & PayPal Payflow Pro. It does not work for 8800 Series. It does work for Curve 8900, Bold 9000, Storm 9530 and Tour 9630.. Hope this helps..: )
