    Hi,

I have recently purchased an unlocked BlackBerry 8820 from the US and using it in India with Vodafone..

I am basically an iPhone user and don't have any knowledge about this new gadget I have in terms of cracking/app loading etc..

Now, my phone shows the OS as v4.5.0.81 (Platform 2.7.0.78) in the 'About' option in 'Options'..

Can I upgrade it to the latest firmware? will that make it locked again? If it will, how can I unlock it again?

Another question is, every time, I have to manually lock the phone by pressing the quick access key.. Is there a way to lock the keyboard automatically?

Any helpful responses will be appreciated!

Yes, you can upgrade the O/S - follow the instructions in the thread at the top of this forum.
Upgrading the O/S will not lock the phone. It is unlocked for good.
There is an app available in the Crackberry App Store, called AutoStandby, which will lock the phone for you. It is quite reasonably priced.
