Make sure you perform a backup first, but then you should be all OK. I have changed operating systems many many times and never had a problem. However, if you do have a problem, just come back here and we can help walk you through it.

    Kasperapd,

When I do all listed, I don't see BB Maps listed. I too have Cingular. I load the new OS, deleted the vendor.xml, copied the new .alx file and ran the app loader. What did I miss? Thanks

BB Maps is on the LBS.alx. You have to modify that file and remove the vendor ID.

    hi there!

I'm with vodafone and I get the slanting lines scenario too....even after running though the Os upgrade you mentioned....gps works and it'll even tell me how fast I'm going....but no actual map graphics

"BB Maps is on the LBS.alx. You have to modify that file and remove the vendor ID" ....did I need to do something there even though I downloaded your version?

    (google maps works ok)

    Hi there,

I have a 8800 with Orange UK. I am running on version 4.2.1.90 (Platform 2.3.0.72)

I have tried many times to download BB Maps through the blackberry website... without success.

I have tried your recommandation. Only issue: I do not find any LBS.alx on my computer.

    Any tips?

    Cheers
    CL

I take it on your pc, you changed your folder view to SHOW all files, system and hidden? If not, you might not find the said file...

Even by changing the folder view to "Show all files, system and hidden", there is no "shared" folder into the Research in Motion folder. In short, I still do not find LBS.alx on my PC.

You have to download and load the OS first. Once you do that, it will be there.
