I have just converted from Palm 700p to BB 8830... slick product.
Quick question... on the Palm you could hit the "end" button once ant it would put the phone in "keyguard" mode... any such thing on the BB 8830?

The only way i know to do it on the BB is to go to applications then lock button.. too many keystrokes... (and I don't wan't to use password either.)

I'm a newbie and probably should leave it to the veterans to answer but...

Did you get the slick leather BB case that automatically puts your 8830 in keyguard mode with the magnet closure? Otherwise the mute button uptop puts it in standby mode accomplishing the same.

Hold down the mute button to go into standby mode. Press mute again to return.

if you have "dial from home screen" turned off in options, you can also just press the "k" key from the home screen which will lock the key pad

You could set your Convenience Key (left side) to Lock the keyboard. But I agree with Big Dog, hitting 2 small keys to unlock is a hassle if you want to use it a lot.

when I hold down alt-enter is comes up with a short cut to change the language instead of locking. Any ideas why? I'd prefer to keep on the feature to dial from the home screen - any other short cuts?

    Thanks!
