If you remove the trackball again and take a look in the hole, you should see a gold colored square with a circle in the middle, right where the ball is pushing when you click. That's the part that needs to be replaced. It's probably dirty under or whatnot.
As for the keyboard, you would need to crack open your device to see what's going on there...

- You may need a need a new mid board. First try peeling off the keyboard sticker with all the switches and clean the board and trackball area and the sticker switch keyboard that you peeled off. I use an electric toothbrush thats damp. clean off any moisture and put it back together and try it.02-12-10 11:18 AMLike 0

- The keyboard & trackball, could roll but not push, stopped working on my Blackberry Curve yesterday. Phone was simply lying on a countertop when this happened. I tried removing the battery and replacing it numerous times. The phone was still receiving emails and updating "unopened" number but not responding to any touch to the keyboard.
To quote another forum user…
“My curve will not respond to any keys!
I've tried pulling the batter several times (for various lengths up to several minutes). Each time I replace the batter, it boots up with an extended hour-glass, verizon logo, and security software checker. However, after boot up, the only thing that the phone can do is scroll between icons on the home page using the track ball. NOTHING MORE!!
No buttons work at all!! Nothing happens when I press the 'green phone' button. Nothing happens when I press the 'red phone' button. Nothing happens when I press my programmable 'soft keys.' Nothing happens when I press the track ball, mute/standby button, volume buttons, menu button, number/querdy buttons... NOTHING!!
I can't select any icons (applications). I can't answer in-coming calls (although I can see them when it's ringing). I can't make out-going calls (the phone does not respond to pressing any keys). I can't power the phone off with the 'red phone' button. I can't do anything!! “
After updating the Blackberry OS the trackball stopped working. I got to work unplugged the battery and left it. At lunch grabbed a can of compressed air and cleaned the insides. The trackball now works but we are still back where to where all buttons do not work.
There is no water damage. Checked all the little stickers I could fine. It was on my dresser in a warm room. The battery had nearly died and I popped the battery put it back in plugged it in and that’s when everything stopped working.
This normally wouldn’t bug me so much.
Just that the warranty was done over a year ago. (but on contract so can’t get a new phone until November) even that doesn’t bother me.
The fact my wife is due to give birth any day and my mobile phone is the only way she can reach me so I can be there for her… well that is. So put your collective heads together and help me please!!!!04-15-11 03:24 PMLike 0
