    Hey everyone,

I have a 8830 which I finally unlocked through verizon, which is the original carrier. I realize that the phone is cdma, but it also has a sim card, which also was the original setup with Verizon.
I would like to use another carrier, like Att or Tmobile with the sim card.
In advanced settings, while typing mepd everything says "disabled", except network, which says "inactive".
In "mobile Network Services", i have set "network Selection mode:Automatic", and "network mode: GSM". When I put any sim card, it will search for signal and then in the top area it says "No Service". I have tried with bot an ATT 3g card and a Tmobile card, bot US carriers.

    Any ideas would be welcome
    thanks

You can't use US GSM services because the phone won't support US GSM frequencies, regardless of the SIM card. It only works on GSM frequencies in Europe and some other countries, but not the US.

The 8830 only supports overseas GSM carriers' networks. It cannot be used on North American GSM carriers' networks.
