It's your network, not the software. I've NEVER had the squawk in all my time of owning the 8830.

That sucks, I wonder what has changed in the network? It didn't start until I updated. It doesn't happen to anyone else in my family's phones either.

It wouldn't be so bad if it was quiet, but it is several times louder than the phone conversation.

No. The OS has to exactly match the hardware. You can only run an 8830 OS on an 8830.
