Why won't the 8830 synch emails that are opened on my Outlook Desktop to my 8830? It works from the 8830 to the Outlook Desktop.
yes i just got my bb nd all info is appreciated
I have gotten the 8830 W.E. from Alltel. Is the update for it out there? If so where can I find it or how do I have to wait for it?
i also have the 8830 of Sprint,I like it but it don't have wi-fi,I don't know in the future this function can add to 8830 ?
The 8830 does not contain the wi-fi chipset, so there is not and can never be a wi-fi capability, regardless of carrier.

I really appreciate these sticky notes! I mean I wouldn't have a clue how to use my phone without them! :)
hmm lets see
I'm a new owner of an 8830. I'm trying to add a web based email from a government (not encrypted) web site. It's very simple from my desk top but the 8830 will not allow me access to the web site to effect the addition of the email address. The address is IMAP versus POP, and the prompt I receive is to insert my "key store password". I've stumbled through this prompt a number of times and only have opportunities left (it says I'm on 6/10).
What is my key store password and where do I obtain it?
There doesn't seem to be a simple, straight-forward answer to your question. I used the google search string "site: forums.crackberry.com key store password" and found many posts, most ending in confusion. Here's a sample: http://forums.crackberry.com/f2/keys...rd-help-20878/ The question seems to come up only when something else is wrong. The vast majority of users never encounter it. So, what can you do?
First, if you have a password set on your blackberry, try that. If that works, you're good.
Second, go to Options/Security Options/Key Stores/. When I go there, I get prompted to "Please choose a new key store password:" I hit "cancel" and return to options. If you are being forced to create a key store password, try creating one there.
If you are already being asked for a password, and the 10-try counter is already decrementing, then I believe (but can't prove) that all that will happen when you enter 10 wrong ones is that it will clear your Key Store, not wipe your blackberry. Clearing the Key Store may mean some apps quit working. Or you may see nothing happen. Or you may get prompted to create a new Key Store password. In any scenario, I don't believe you will lose the contents of your backberry. But, try this at your own risk. I don't know for sure, and can't find a definitive answer.
Whatever happens, please post your result so we can all learn from it.
My phone won't make calls home from china with the verizom sim card, it connects then disconnects after 2 seconds. My mom was able to call me however but it showed up as a really strange number...
Help! Phoneless in China!

Hello all:
This is a great forum, thanks to all who contribute. This is my first post and I was looking for a way to unlock my BB 8830 to be used with AT&T. I'm glad I came here to find out it can't be done.
Thanks again for saving me time and headaches.
Manuelito
p.s. willing to trade my BB 8830 world edition bit something similar.
Q.) Can I unlock the 8830 to be used on ATT (cingular) or T-Mobile?
A.) NO. The 8830s GSM operates in the 900 / 1800 Mhz band where as T-Mo and AT&T use 850 / 1900 in the united states. You can not do ANYTHING to make this work. If you want a 8800 series, buy the 8800 or 8820 which is GSM.
by the way, the 8830 has a sim card and the company is Bell, someone told me Verizon does not have a sim card, is this true? Will this make a difference?
Also, there is an GSM option on this phone.
Guys,
I have Sprint 8830 World. Micro SD port locked by Sprint or Telecom folks from my Corporation. Is any way to unlock the port?
Much appreciate!
It's highly unlikely Sprint locked it. If your 8830 is provided by your employer, they are likely using an IT policy to control the microSD card. You'll have to ask them to unlock it. Depending on their security policies, they may or may not. If they refuse, you should NOT try to unlock it with the "Remove IT Policy" tools available here. Your removing the policy will be detected the first time you log onto the enterprise. The policy will be restored, and you may get in trouble.
I just purchased the 8830 from Verizon. Had a problem with the ringer problem but downloaded the latest update from Verizon and that seemed to help.
But it didn't increase the volume on the Naviagtor voice any and it's nearly impossible to hear in traffic.
The Navigator voice won't come through the bluetooth headset either. If it did that would work.
Any ideas on increasing the volume on the Navigator or getting the voice to come through the bluetooth. Every thing else comes thorugh the bluetooth fine.
Thanks for the help. What a great forum.
works fine so far...
Verizon does sell SIM cards for the 8830, but the GSM option for this phone is used by overseas frequencies (900/1800) internationally and CDMA only in the US.
i agree with all except i called and just asked for the unlock code, they sent me a verizon sim, i called back with the sim installed and took me through the process. i had just got the phone about 2 weeks earlier. maybe i got lucky but they gave me the code, phone works fine. i called the international office
You can find VZW software upgrades here: BlackBerry Software Updates
The options on the bottom indicate "Personal Email" or "Corporate Email", if you're on the BIS connection choose Personal Email...if you're on the BES connection choose Corporate Email.
If you don't know which BlackBerry server you're on, here's another hint... If you're phone is supplied from your employer, you're most likely on a BES connection, if you pay for your phone and only have personal email addresses on your BlackBerry, you're most likely on a BIS connection.
If you're still in doubt...give VZW customer service a call! :D
hey just switched from the 8703e to the 8830 World Edition. Like the change
but they keyboard is better on the 8703e. Is there anyway that i can change the email settings from my old pin to the new one?
not sure if i should post here, but i have my ringer options set to ring and vibrate in the holster, but it rings only once! my callers tell me it rings on their end 6 or 7 times...i can set the # of vibrations to 3, and the repeat notification to LED flashing, but cant get more than 1 ring. anyone else have this situation? thanks from a newbie..
whats the solution for the 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm adapter solution?
Ok, my question is rather different. When i charge my 8830 WE phone i cannot recieve any calls at all. All calls go straight to voice mail, is there a way i can rectify this problem? Im sure i should be recieveing calls even when my phone is charging....
Did you check where it says "In Holster"? Same happend to me, went there, set it to the loudest setting, ring and viberation, and works just fine
