So after days and days of waiting, my new 8800 arrived last week.
I excitedly opened it up, set it up etc and began using the built in GPS feature.
Found BB maps wasnt that great but downloaded google maps and found it to work a treat.

RIM claim that the 8800 has the best battery life out of all the BBs.
my old device was a 7290 and on average the battery lasted about a week (during normal use).
I'm finding the battery on my 8800 to become low after a day or so of normal use.
The only thing different i guess is the GPS.
The last couple of days however i've turned data services off to see if this made a difference to the battery life, and it hasnt really made a huge difference.
I'm finding my battery is becoming low after a day or 2 of light usage and am dissapointed by the overall battery life.

Is anyone else having this problem?

mumf, you have a dreadful battery issue and fatreg seem to want to eventually have your pin number. lol

Are you still within your 30 day return exchange period? If so, you should exchange it and see if you get a better device or maybe contact your service provider to see if they could troubleshoot for you to find the problem.

My battery on the 8800 is fine, I can go sometimes 2 days without charging during normal usage, I hope you can get the battery issue resolved.

Newbie question here: Could the battery problems be attributed to the use of a Bluetooth headset? I'm new to the BB game and I have a lot of new BB users to support. Just tryin' to stay ahead of potential gripes!

With my 8800 I would get minimum 3-4 days before it needed a charge! And I was using it for everything, all the time - same as I do with my Curve.

More than likely a battery change is needed. If after getting the battery change the same thing happens, then the issue would be the device itself. Also, if you have Viigo installed, when you close it, go to menu / close. If you close it the other way, it's still running in the back ground, and thus using more memory / power...
