howdy! searched around and couldn't find a forum or a thread more specific to this, so the 8830 forum it is...

    meaty bits: 8830, Sprint, v4.2.2.176 (Platform 3.0.0.76), no BIS/BES

i upgraded to 4.2.2.176 and didn't notice much - signal meter and 1XEV seems more stable - but it seems to have lost my application connection permissions or something. OK, check out the app. permissions and... they're the same. "Carrier Internet: Allow" etc.

still, whenever i use Opera, LogicMail, GMaps, etc: "The application (app name) has attempted to access a low-level network connection. Would you like to allow this?" i just have to do it once per session, and it's only mildly annoying, but still, why is the preference ignored?

Dunno, but Opera is the only one that requires this for me. GMaps and others do not.

interesting, so no one has seen this behavior besides JRSC? (and in his case, just one application.)

hrm, might have to ask RIM about this, thanks,

I get the same message every time I use Opera also.
