I heard our phones need 12million bytes to run properly/fast. all i have added on my phone is about 30 pictures and about 3 applications and i only have 6m file free. if i were to buy a mini sd card would i be able to transfer over the pictures AND apps to get that free space back? i'm not exactly out of space but i'd like to free up space if that 12m rumor is right.
Shane you can transfer pics over to media card but not apps. The only things that can be stored on media cards are pics, ringtones, voice notes, etc. You really need to get yourself a media card.
Quick question, on any BB what is the highest cap sd card that can be used? I'm picking up an 8830 and it doesnt' have one in it, I also have the standard 1gig that came with my 8330
rick it depends on the Operating System. You need to determine which OS version is on that phone then you will know what capacity media card it can use. To fnd the OS version either go to options>about or simply type myver and hit spacebar.
Thanks. I'm running 4.5.0.131 on my 8330, I haven't had a chance to look up the OS on the 8830 yet. That I should have in my hands by tomorrow.

so how do i go about staying under my 12m bytes to run optimal if i run apps? all i have on it is facebook, msn, weather network, shazam, poynt and quick pull. I went and looked and I actually have 96 photos. but it doesn't seem like those photos is enough to keep it under 12m as they don't take up much space compared to the apps.
Extra themes will suck up a lot of memory, 300-500k.
I'd recommend doing the "How to Increase BlackBerry's File free memory " thing... Or as much as you feel safe doing. If you've done OS installs, you'll likely be ok doing this stuff.

I don't have room to talk, I haven't optimized and amd am running at about 8 meg free. amazing it works even. But, I use everything that's on there. :( Lotsa issues at that level and .138. Wasnt so bad running low mem levelas with .77 I noticed.
That is a great tool for memory optimization. There may be some apps you don't use that much that you may consider getting rid of as well.

Yeah, it is. I recently did the GPS setting thing through QPST that is in the GPS forum here @ cracberry, and it worked perfectly opening up the GPS. So... I actually JUST removed Nav4All, which was the only program that would wake up my GPS before the QPST setup, and the GPS is still hitting 8-11 birds w/out it. So, yay. I just freed mine up about 2 meg more. At least I'm over 10 meg meg myself. And looking at ditching more.
I only use my own theme and may ditch the others and see which of the 4 OEM themes it needs to have onboard to even function.
