anybody downloaded the xm app for the 8830? I tried it but received the message "thank you for your interest in xm mobile, this service is only available in the united states" but my problem might be carrier related(cellular south)
1) It's yet to be released.
2) You won't be able to use it until you get streaming codecs in OS4.5.
So, you gota wait.

1) It has been released. I downloaded it.
2) It streams perfectly on my 8830 (alltel) -- Supported devices run OS 4.2 and higher and include the 8700 series, 8100 series, 8800 series, and 8300 series.
Don't assume something and post it on the board until you actually do a little research.
i wonder if that means my problems are cellular south related then? there is a slight possibility that i might be having some on going problems after i accidentally sync'd with my BES again.
I downloaded the free 24 hr trial. It worked OK. The sound wasn't that great, a little hollow. It froze up a couple of times but started playing a minute or two later. There isn't a real long list of stations but it is pretty cool to stream music over the BB.
I wouldn't pay for it unless the sound quality was better (maybe it is if you pay for it).
I'll have to check out the 1 day trial. But as a current XM subscriber, I'm not interested in paying an extra 9 bucks a month.
And I have to correct whoever said that XM & Sirius are one. Not yet. The merger has been approved by the Dept. of Justice, but it still must be approved by the FCC and that hasn't occured yet. However, the FCC is expected to approve it since they normally follow DOJ's lead in such matters. And even when that occurs, it will be many months before the two entities are merged. It will probably take even longer to figure out what all the current subscribers are going to do with satellite radio receivers that only pick up XM or Sirius, and not the other.
As if right now they still have to have FCC approval. They have yet to merge.
XM app works on my 8830. The only problem I have seen is they wanted additional subscription to use it on the phone. Hopefully that changes for subscribers but I am not holding my breath.
I have Cellular South and I am having the same issue as you. I called Data Support and they said it should work and that it must be an issue with whoever is putting the link out there or Blackberry themselves. You never know who to believe. Later....OUT!!!!!
I also got the same message. If im understanding the 4.5 update correctly when it comes out you wont have to have the app you can just go to the website and listen now. Hopefully that will be included in the update. The BB browser wont let you and opera mini kept telling me to install flash.
