Two different pieces of software. You have to have both the Desktop Manager AND your device OS installed on your PC.
The Desktop Manager is currently version 4.3.0.17. I downloaded the "English-only without Media Manager" version. I previously had the Media Manager version. Without Media Manager, Desktop Manager starts and shuts down much more quickly.
The 8830 OS just updated yesterday to 4.2.2.196. You can download them both from the Verizon site. Once you install Desktop Manager you'll have the Application Loader.

Reason: added version details
afraid I am having the same issue. it syncs fine but the application lader software just iisn't there. perhaps I am not loading the OS on my computer. Is that a separate disk?
The AL is part of DTM, not the OS. I can't figure out what's happening here. I just updated both dtm and the os yesterday and didn't lose the AL. I'm wondering if there's some problem with the particular download pkg you guys used. That's why I asked abt the specific pkg. Which one did you d/l?

Package Version: 4.2.2.353
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.2.2.196
Software Platform: 3.0.0.81
File name: 8830EFS_PBr4.2.2_rel353_PL3.0.0.81_A4.2.2.196_Bell _Mobility.exe
File size: 88.83MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.
Now we're getting somewhere. I have 4.2.2.196 platform 3.0.0.84. And I see "Bell" in your filename. Are you a Bell user? Yesterday's update was from Verizon. If you d/l the bell os and try to install it on a verizon device, it should not install unless you have removed the vendor.xml file. Did you do that? Accessing via wap, I cannot see your profile, so I don't know if you are verizon or bell. If verizon, your platform number difference may be explained by your having d/l the multilanguage pack. If you don't need them, try the english-only d/l.
