When I turned back and open the cover, I notice that there is a metal slide switch with "Lock - up" and "Unlock-down". What is this use for??? The Sprint have declared that the BB8830 are unlocked, but I checked under Option - Advanced Options - SIM Card and type "mepd" and noticed "Active" under "Network". I tried to switch the metal, but it happened same thing. I am confused... This BB8830 comes from Sprint. Thanks.

That slide switch is to hold your memory card. With the latest .176 update I think the max capacity of this card can be 4gig.

The SIM slot on Sprint is unlocked. Put a SIM in it and you'll see that it won't say Invalid SIM.
