My Verizon Wireless 8830WE is provided to me by my work and I've had it for about 1 1/2 years. We recently ordered a brand new 8830WE and when it arrived I noticed that the tethered modem speed is several times faster than my 8830WE. I went through and adjusted the device settings and software on both to match each other, but even with the settings almost exactly the same, my device will only reach speeds of 150kbps whereas the new device reaches up to around 750kbps. Has anyone had a similar experience or have any suggestions to why mine is so slow?
I noticed speed up to 1mb down and 150k up after I upgraded to 4.5.0.101. Now those speeds are not always consistent but I am consistently over 600K every time that I decide to check my bandwidth with the phone hooked up.
I'm looking forward to seeing if 4.5 boosts the speed, but am going to wait until Verizon releases before installing. Any other comments or suggestions?

Surprising.
I get bursts of over 2mpbs download speeds on a regular basis with my 8830. It averages between 1.3-1.5 mpbs down. I haven't really noticed the upload speed, however.
How did you upgrade to a 4.5.xxx OS? I thought the latest release for the 8830 was 4.2.2.196
A 1X icon usually displays next to my signal strength, does this mean I am operating at the speed you referred to as well?
Thanks!
1X is Verizons voice network that has limited data capabilities. 1XEV is Verizons 3G. If you do not have the EV there that explains why your data is moving so slow.
